The Community Grants Committee of the SSVMSA provides grants to 501(c)3 organizations from $2,500 to $10,000. Projects and Programs must relate to the advancement of community health or health education and exist within the Greater Sacramento Metro Region. Please review the application and guidelines for 2011 to carefully assure the appropriateness of your application and to review specific submission instructions.
2011 Community Grant Recipients
Children's Receiving Home: $4,260Provided funds for the purchase of a hemoglobin analyzer and oxygen tanks required to keep the home in compliance with state regulations. In addition, purchased a six month supply of first-aid and intake materials. |
Child Abuse Prevention Council of Sacramento: $5,000Purchased 100 Cribs for the Infant Safe Sleeping Program, which aims to decrease the number of preventable infant sleep-related deaths in Sacramento County by providing education and support for new parents. |
Discovery Science Center - Wow! Healthy Eating Exhibit: $2,500Provided funding for a permanent exhibit on Healthy Eating to encourage visitors to the museum, including young children, to make healthy food choices. |
Wellspring Women's Center: $3,988Funding Wellspring Women's Center for their Women's Health Program, which provides educational materials and sanitary supplies for over 150 women for a year. |
Society for the Blind: $4,908Funding for the purchase of assistive technology for use in client teaching, demonstrations, and outreach including oral thermometers and blood pressure units. |
Keaton Raphael Memorial Foundation: $5,000Funding for their Family Navigator Program which assists families dealing with childhood cancer. The program provides educational materials, therapeutic tools and other resources to assist families in their childhood cancer journeys. |
